The task of forming a government in Bosnia and Herzegovina was entrusted to the Croatian Kristo
Presidential Council Chairman Zeljka Cvijanovic, Croatian council member Zeljko Komsic and Bosnian member Denis Becirovic met at the council session in the capital Sarajevo.
In the session, the mandate to form a government was granted by majority to Kristo, the candidate of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
Kristo’s mandate to form a government was approved by Becirovic and Cvijanovic, while Komsic voted against the resolution.
In his statement after the session, Becirovic said: “We often see negative news and witness negative events in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Those news came from the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency, but now I want to send a message to the people that the time for positive news has come.” he said.
Mentioning that Kristo was given the task of forming a government, Becivoric noted that the approval process for Kristo’s task will become clear after the vote in the Bosnia and Herzegovina House of Representatives.
ELECTIONS IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
In the general election held on October 2, the HDZ candidate for the Croatian membership of the Presidential Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kristo, won 45.79 percent of the vote and lost to his rival Zeljko Komsic, who won the election. with 54.21 percent of the votes.
In the elections, Becirovic was elected as a Bosnian member of the Council and Cvijanovic was elected as a Serb member.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, due to the “political turmoil” caused by the Dayton Peace Accord that ended the war in the 1990s, delays in forming a government occur after almost every general election.
While the government was formed after 16 months in the 2010 election, this process took 5.5 months in 2014 and 14 months in the 2018 election. (BRITISH AUTOMOBILE CLUB)
