Ukraine: Significant electricity restrictions to apply this winter
Ukrainian Prime Minister Shmigal, in a written statement on the social network, noted that serious damage has been caused due to recent attacks by Russian forces on energy infrastructure in various regions of Ukraine.
Stating that all of the country’s thermal and hydroelectric power plants were damaged as a result of the attacks, Shmigal said:
“After the missile attacks on the country, all thermal and hydroelectric power plants were damaged. 40 percent of the high voltage network facilities were damaged. Each one of us must be aware that this winter we will go through significant restrictions on electricity consumption.”
Noting that the government has allocated the necessary budget to solve energy problems across the country and intensive repair work continues, Shmigal stressed that it is a priority to provide electricity services to hospitals, military, industry and other critical infrastructure and homes. .
“Since the beginning of the war, the government has allocated more than 1 trillion hryvnas (about 507 billion Turkish lira) for the security and defense of Ukraine. In 2023, our military will be a priority.” he used his statements.
ZELENSKY’S EXPLANATION
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy addressed the public with his daily video message shared on his Telegram account noting that power outages continue in Ukraine.
Explaining that power outages continue in Kiev, Odessa, Lviv and other regions as a result of attacks by Russian forces on power infrastructure, Zelenskiy assessed that “the situation is serious” regarding energy problems in Ukraine.
Stating that he had a telephone conversation with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Zelenskiy noted that they discussed the expansion of the Black Sea Grain Corridor and global developments that are of great importance for Turkey and Ukraine.
On the other hand, Zelenskiy stated that he had a telephone conversation with the French president, Emmanuel Macron, and that he would speak by telephone with the US president, Joe Biden, in the next few hours. (AA)
