A Lafarge factory has been closed

According to French press reports, some 200 environmentalists dressed in white coats damaged the La Malle factory of the French company Lafarge in the city of Bouc-Bel-Air.

Some of the factory machinery was burned, cables were cut with a hammer or an axe, and bags of cement were broken.

The report stated that the operation of the factory was stopped. The Lafarge company described what happened as “a criminal act”.

Bouc-Bel-Air Mayor Richard Mallie stated that the factory may not be able to operate normally for several weeks due to the damage.

The activists, in a statement they released, pointed to air pollution and claimed that the factory’s chimneys were still emitting “poison.” An investigation has been opened into the incident. (AA)
