Wiretapping scandal grows in Greece

In Documento newspaper news, it was claimed that Hacidakis, who was on the first list published by the newspaper about the wiretapping scandal, was listened to by the EYP for about a year.

The news alleged that Hacidakis’s official phone line was traced with the “code 5046c”, it alleged that the wiretaps took place between November 27, 2020 and November 17, 2021.

SURE

It was claimed that Hacidakis’s talks with the leadership of the Greek Electricity Authority (DEI) were the center of attention, as well as his meetings with businessmen, ministers and members of the New Democracy Party.

On the news, it was reported that Hacidakis, who was contacted by the newspaper, did not make a statement that he did not believe he was being listened to, but rather that he did not believe Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis was listening.

Government spokesman Yannis İkonomu said today at his regular weekly press conference that the government has taken political and legal initiatives since August to combat wiretapping through spyware.

Yannis İkonomu stated that the Greek judiciary will examine a long process, including the period of the Radical Left Alliance (SYRIZA), including possible “off-frame” actions within the EYP.

IT IS ON THE AGENDA FOR APRIL

The wiretapping scandal in Greece came to light in April after Greek journalist Thanasis Kukakis’ cell phone detected spyware.

In Greek media news, it was claimed that the phones of many important politicians, bureaucrats, journalists and businessmen, including former Prime Minister Andonis Samaras, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, Chief of General Staff Konstandinos Floros, were ” intervened”.

The name of Kostis Hacidakis was included in the list of people allegedly “heard” published by the Documento newspaper on November 6. (AA)
