Letter to Turkey from the Swedish Prime Minister
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson declared that his country should not become a terrorist base.
Responding to the letter sent to Turkey by former Social Democrat MP Nalin Pekgül, known to be anti-Turkish in Sweden, under the NATO deal, Kristersson said: “Sweden should not become a terrorist base.” In the letter that he published in response to Pekgül, Kristersson noted the following:
“Those who are not involved in terrorism, terrorist financing or any other crime have nothing to fear. However, we will not allow Sweden to become a terrorist base, whether it is targeting countries other than Sweden or not. I have always been clear that Turkey, like our country, has the right to defend itself against terrorism.”
Reminding that universal law rules are valid in Sweden, Kristersson said: “Sweden will continue to comply with international law. Nothing else was conceivable. We are one of the most powerful states in the world governed by the rule of law. Swedish citizens will never be extradited,” he said.
Stating that they are behind the NATO agreement that Sweden made with Turkey and Finland, Kristersson said that other parties also support them in this regard. (AA)
