Iran executes man who participated in Mahsa Emini protests
As the popular movement in Iran, which began with the murder of 22-year-old Mahsa Emini after being detained by the moral police, brought life to a standstill in the country, a statement came from the Tehran government.
The semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that a man named Mohsen Shekari, who participated in the popular movement that began on September 16 and was arrested after it was found that he had injured a security guard with a knife, was executed.
While a person who took part in the event, which is described as the biggest protest against the Iranian government in recent years, was executed for the first time, no further information about Shekari was provided. The day before, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that it was satisfied with the sentences handed down to the captured protesters.
On Tuesday, Iranian official Massoud Setayeshi sentenced five people to death for killing a Basij militia, Ruhallah Ajamian.
