Controversial proposal in Iran: Close the bank accounts of women who do not wear the veil

Iranian parliament deputy Rafsanjan Hussein Celali stated that new sanctions have been prepared against women who do not comply with the mandatory headscarf rule, saying their bank accounts may be closed.

In statements to the news site “Muniban”, Celali gave information about the new sanctions that will be imposed on women who violate the mandatory veil rule. Celali said: “As part of the Mahsa Amini protests, which turned into anti-regime demonstrations across the country, some women uncovered their heads to oppose the mandatory veiling,” adding: “Let the demonstrations subside , the rule of the veil”. It will continue.” Noting that there are ongoing efforts to warn women from not abiding by the aforementioned rule with different methods, Celali said:

“With the application we are working on, first of all, a message will be sent to the phones of women who do not comply with the veil rule, if this is not enough, a warning will be given and their account can be closed. banking in the third stage”.

Celali, a member of the Culture Commission of the Iranian Parliament, announced yesterday that studies are being carried out in Parliament regarding the mandatory application of the veil and that the penalties for those who do not comply with the current law will be increased.

The death on September 16 of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who fell ill and was taken to hospital after being detained by Irshad patrols, known as the “morality police” in Tehran, on September 16, sparked protests against the country government. . (AA)
