The incident broke out during opposition demonstrations in Italy
A group of about 300 far-right and pro-Russian people gathered in Cadorna Square to protest the shipment of arms to Ukraine. Walking with torches and Italian flags, the far-rightists carried banners reading “We are united against war” and “No to Russian hostility.”
Far-rightists lit torches during their marches and spoke out against the war.
In Cairoli Square, near the Duomo, another point in the city, more than 500 leftist groups gathered to protest against the war and fascism. When the leftist group wanted to march towards the area where the ultra-rightists were, the security forces prevented it.
While there was a fierce brawl between the police and the leftists, the security forces intervened with batons.
According to Italian press reports, 1 policeman was injured in the incidents. (AA)
