China accuses the US of smuggling oil and grains from Syria
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Cao, at his daily press conference in Beijing, assessed the claim that the US military transferred 54 oil-laden tankers from northern Syria to their bases in northern Iraq on 1 from December.
Cao said that according to the official data of the Syrian regime, the smuggling activity of the United States caused losses of more than 100 billion dollars from 2011, when the civil war began in the country, until the first half of 2022. It is illegal to smuggle oil and grain from Syria, and it is illegal for the United States to launch a missile attack against Syria.” he said he.
Cao, who said some Syrians reported that people would have problems in the winter months due to oil smuggling, said the international community should not be a bystander to the situation and should carefully examine the allegations.
“America is trying to find an excuse”
Cao, who accused the United States of violating international law and norms while upholding the “rules-based international order” on the one hand, said:
“When the US talks about ‘rules,’ it’s usually just trying to find excuses to serve its own interests or maintain its hegemony. As Gerard Araud, France’s former ambassador to Washington, and many others have said, “Americans do what they want, even if it goes against international law by their very definition.” This is how the rest of the world sees this order.” (AA)
