Life market in China: cries for help rose from the burning apartment
A fire broke out in a multi-story apartment building in Xi’an, China. In the fire in Weiyang district, where there are many settlements, images of some people trapped in the fire as smoke billows out of many apartments, hanging from windows and shouting for help, created a shock effect on social media.
Images of moments of fire and panic in the region quickly spread on Weibo, China’s popular social media platform. Many people shared messages indicating that they wanted the firefighters to intervene in the fire despite the Covid quarantine.
Firefighters announced that at least 5 people died in the apartment.
The fire occurred during a period of protests that erupted last week when 10 people died in a fire at a quarantined house in Xinjiang, where Uyghur Turks live.
