Biden’s call to Putin
US President Biden held a joint press conference after meeting Emmanuel Macron, who made his first “state visit” to the US during his presidency.
In their speeches, both leaders stated that one of the main items on the meeting’s agenda was the war between Russia and Ukraine and that they would continue to provide assistance to Ukraine.
Stating that the only rational way to end the war is for Putin to withdraw his troops from Ukraine, Biden said: “Putin pays a heavy price by not choosing this path. At the same time, he is causing great destruction in Ukraine. he used the phrases.
Saying that he has no intention of contacting Putin, Biden said: “I am ready to talk to Putin if he is willing to make the decision to end the war. However, he is not on that path yet. If that happens, I will contact my French and NATO friends, and sit down with Putin and see what he is thinking,” he said.
“WE WILL NOT ASK UKRAINE TO MAKE COMMITMENTS”
On the other hand, French President Emmanuel Macron stressed that the decision on Ukraine’s war belongs to Ukraine, saying: “We will never ask Ukraine to make concessions that are unacceptable to them.” he said.
Stating that such a peace will never be sustainable, Macron said: “We respect the decisions of the Ukrainians to determine the terms of the negotiations on their territory.” he used the phrases. (AA)
