Confidence in the US military is below 50%

A survey by the California-based Ronald Reagan Foundation revealed that the American public has continued to distrust the military in recent years.

In the opinion poll conducted by the foundation in different US states in November, it was found that 48 percent of Americans trust the military.

In the study, which indicated that the 70 percent confidence level in 2018 dropped below 50 percent in the past four years, participants were also asked about the reasons for this.

While 62 percent of those polled cited “too much politicization of the military command level” as the reason, they also believed that decisions made by civilian administrations, especially the withdrawal from Afghanistan, reduced trust in the military.

It was found that the rate of those who responded to questions about whether they want to join the military, “I never want to join”, “I am not willing to join”, was 54 percent.

In the study, 73 percent of Democrats and 51 percent of Republicans said they support continued aid to Ukraine.

In the study, which recorded 60 percent trust in NATO, 72 percent of the participants said that when any NATO partner is attacked by Russia, they should respond militarily.

In the study, in which 54 percent of the participants expressed the opinion that the US does not have a clear strategy on China, 71 percent of the participants think that the war between Russia and Ukraine will inspire China to invade Taiwan. (AA)
