An envelope with explosives was sent to the US Embassy in Madrid

The Spanish television La Sexta, based on police sources, stated that a suspicious envelope arrived at the United States Embassy in Madrid at noon. It was verified that the embassy officials forwarded the envelope in question to the Spanish bomb disposal team, Tedax, and the necessary analyzes began.

In the Spanish press report on the incident, of which no official statement has yet been made, it was ensured that the envelope in question coincided with other envelopes with explosive content.

Rafael Pérez, the Spanish government’s secretary of state responsible for security, told a press conference that envelopes with explosives were sent to 4 addresses in the last 24 hours, and a similar envelope was sent to the residence of the Prime Minister in Madrid on November 24. addressing the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.

Pérez announced that all the envelopes sent yesterday to the Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid and then to the “Instalaza” arms factory in the city of Zaragoza, and this morning to the Torrejón de Ardoz military base and the Ministry of Defense building in Madrid are similar to those sent to the prime minister’s residence on November 24.

It was announced that all the envelopes were brown, the sender’s name was not included, they contained pyrotechnic explosive material and there were traces that the 5 envelopes were sent from within Spain, although it is not certain.

After the envelopes containing explosives, by order of the Ministry of the Interior, security measures were increased in all foreign missions and public buildings in the country and citizens were called on to remain calm. (AA)
