The border dispute between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan has ended

In the statement made by the Presidential Press Center, it was stated that President Caparov signed the agreement on the determination of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan and the agreement on the joint management of the Andijan (Kempirabad) dam.

These two agreements were unanimously approved by the parliaments of both countries.

BORDER PROBLEM RESOLVED BY MUTUAL LAND EXCHANGE

According to the agreement on the determination of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan will give Kyrgyzstan 19,699 hectares of land.

According to the agreement on the joint management of the Andijan dam, 4,485 hectares of land on which the dam is located will be left to Uzbekistan.

In addition, Uzbekistan will provide the Kyrgyz with free and unimpeded access to water resources and will not build additional structures on water resources.

There is a common border of 1379 kilometers between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. For many years, the parties could not reach an agreement on the 200-kilometer part of the border.

On the other hand, it is expected that these border agreements will enter into force after the signature of the President of Uzbekistan Shafket Mirziyeyov. (AA)
