Germany calls attacks on Ukraine’s electricity infrastructure “war crimes”

Speaking to reporters after the G7 justice ministers’ meeting in Berlin, Buschmann said Russia is trying to use winter as a “weapon of war” against the Ukrainians.

“We all agree that heinous war crimes have been committed in Ukraine. Attacks on electrical infrastructure amount to war crimes. The international community condemns this war and the way it is being fought in the strongest possible terms.” he said she.

Buschmann accused Russia of “deliberately” and “systematically” attacking civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, saying Moscow destroyed heating and electricity systems and left people defenseless in freezing temperatures.

“This military action against the civilian population is repugnant and we condemn it in the strongest possible terms,” Buschmann said. he said.

Noting that Ukraine’s Justice Minister Denys Malyuska and Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin also attended the G7 meetings, Buschmann said that he and his colleagues discussed investigations into war crimes committed in Ukraine and ways to bring war criminals to justice.

In the joint statement announced after the G7 meeting, it was stressed that Russia’s war against Ukraine was strongly condemned and that war crimes must not go unpunished. (AA)
