Pentagon: We have no plans to give Patriots to Ukraine
Pentagon spokesman Ryder answered questions about the agenda items at the daily news briefing.
Responding to a question about news about the supply of Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, Ryder said: “As we’ve talked before, we talk to Ukraine on a regular basis. We consult regularly with our partners on defense needs. Air defense remains a priority for the Ministry of Defense and our international partners in support of Ukraine. As for whether the US will supply Patriot batteries to Ukraine, we currently do not have any plans to provide Patriot batteries to Ukraine, but these discussions are ongoing.” he said she.
A senior defense official, briefing the press earlier in the day, said they were considering many options, including Patriot.
Specifically, when asked if the Patriots are on the table, the official said: “I can only say that all capabilities, including the Patriot, are on the table. Patriot is also considered as one of the air defense systems.” he had passed on his words.
Answering the question why Patriot air defense systems were not supplied to Ukraine, Stoltenberg said that various forms of contacts continued, such as the Ramstein format for support, and the Patriot issue was also discussed within this framework. Stoltenberg, however, did not answer if these systems would be given. (AA)
