Divorce happens every 10 minutes in Saudi Arabia
The news from the Saudi daily Al-Yevm included the data published by the Saudi General Institute of Statistics on divorce cases from 2022.
According to data from the Institute of Statistics, the divorce rate increased 12.7 percent in 2020 compared to the previous year, and 57,595 cases were registered. Since the beginning of this year, there has been an average of 168 divorces per day.
The lawyer Inclusive ed-Inclusion, whose statements were included in the news, listed the most important reasons for the increase in divorce rates in Saudi Arabia as the increase in prices due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the economic crisis and the problems caused by addiction to social networks.
He also noted that there was a significant decline in the marriage rate in the country, with the main reasons for this decline being lack of education and high dowry and marriage expenses. (AA)
