About the publisher: I am convinced that the 2028 Summer Olympics will be a blessing to our city. (“Is LA ready for the 2028 Olympics? Some locals worry,” March 21)
I fondly remember going to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to watch the 1984 track and field game with my grandfather, who also attended the 1932 Los Angeles Games. Despite all sorts of misguided fears, LA looked and felt great this summer, and traffic was noticeably down.
Peter Ueberroth and the organizing committee did an excellent job. The City of Angels really felt that way in 1984.
I look forward to attending the 2028 Games and seeing another demonstration of the Olympic motto: “Faster, Higher, Stronger Together”. Los Angeles will likely be the beneficiary of the 2028 Olympics for years to come.

About the publisher: Five years before the Los Angeles Olympics, you run a story about a poll saying 57% of LA residents believe the 2028 Games will help the city, but younger Angelenos are more skeptical.
Your last paragraph refers to the limits of sampling error, and the article also describes that the survey included only 500 adult residents answering phone calls.
Why is this news? The LA Olympics were approved years ago and that decision is final. Without taking a poll, anyone can tell your story: People in town have mixed opinions about whether the LA Olympics will really help the city in five years.
