Letters to the Editor: Ignoring Marjorie Taylor Greene? No, let’s talk about her

About the publisher: I’ve always liked columnist Jackie Calmes, but I disagree with her argument that our Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) shouldn’t ignore it. It won’t just “walk away”. people like them don’t. We should give her a lot of ink instead.

Refer to her as the leader of the Republican Party, seeking to divide the country and ignoring a war already underway. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Bakersfield) is very grateful that Greene supported his bid for the speakership, so one has to wonder if he is right in their assumption that Jewish space lasers may have started wildfires in California lies.

I could go on, but you get the idea. Let’s continue these articles about their very stupid ideas, and let’s also point out that their fellow Republicans support them.

Gary Coyne, South Pasadena

..

About the publisher: If we’re not careful, we could end up with Greene as our next president.

Once again the media is obsessed with a politician who is nothing more than a provocateur who only says outrageous things in response. Have we learned nothing from 2016?

Neither Greene nor ex-President Trump are politicians in the traditional sense of the word. They are both narcissists with a never-ending appetite for attention, which the media is only too happy to give them.

Trump was elected in part thanks to constant media coverage for his “entertainment value” and their search for an audience. It’s happening again with Greene. This has to stop now or we will have another White House disaster.

Brian Gough, Santa Barbara

..

About the publisher: Why is Calmes so angry about Greene? It represents 0.2% of half of Congress, which in turn makes up one-third of the federal government. She’s not worth the ink unless she’s a useful foil like Trump.

William N. Hoke, Manhattan Beach

..

About the publisher: Greene is my representative and I could only agree with Calmes. She is and always has been embarrassing. Your views and opinions come from the earth.

It’s amazing that a large percentage of voters in North Georgia voted for her. Not me.

Georgia has two Democratic Senators and voted for President Biden in 2020. Governor Brian Kemp was a great Republican leader. It’s unbelievable that a great state like Georgia could make such a mistake by supporting Greene.

By the way, I’m a Republican.

Willie Olmstead, Powder Springs, Georgia.

..

About the publisher: Perhaps it’s not such a bad idea to take Greene’s proposal for a national divorce seriously after all. With California recognized as the fourth or fifth largest economy in the world, think how “Blue America” would rank with New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Massachusetts and several others.

We would need an open border policy to connect this disjointed geography, but I think it is possible. I propose a 10% tax on goods imported from “Red America” to cover operating costs.
