Rashford’s birthday celebration causes a crisis with Ten Hag
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag described Marcus Rashford’s nightclub visit after the Manchester derby defeat as “unacceptable” but said the striker had apologised.
The striker, who has scored just one goal in 14 games for United this season, was seen partying to celebrate his birthday hours after his team lost 3-0 to Manchester City at Old Trafford.
“Yes, I am aware of it, I spoke to him about it,” Ten Hag said at the press conference. This is unacceptable. I told. He also apologized. That’s all. For the rest, it is an internal question.” he said.
HE FELL ASLEEP AND WAS LATE FOR THE MEETING
This is not the first time Rashford has drawn the ire of Ten Hag over an off-field incident. He was not included in the starting XI last season because he fell asleep in the Premier League match against Wolves and arrived late for the team meeting.
However, Ten Hag firmly rejected claims that these errors meant Rashford was not up to the standards set by the United manager:
“He is very motivated to get things done. I know how much effort you put in. He is completely with us. He makes mistakes, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t adapt. I see him train every day, I know what he does. He made a mistake. But I know what he does off the field, how he lives it and I am sure that he does all the right things to help the team perform and help us win.”
