Investigation for illegal bets against Nicolo Zaniolo and Sandro Tonali

The investigation into illegal betting launched against footballers in Italy has extended to Nicolo Zaniolo, on loan from Galatasaray to Aston Villa, and Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali.

The police teams met with Sandro Tonali and Niccolo Zaniolo in Coverciano, the concentration center of the Italian team. The matter refers to the investigation by the Turin Prosecutor’s Office into illegal betting, in which two Italian footballers and Nicolo Fagioli, a Juventus player, who has been reported, are involved.

Accompanied by the head of the delegation, Gianluigi Buffon, who arrived around 6:00 p.m., they wanted to meet with Tonali and Zaniolo.

The two players were rivals when Tonali played for Milan and Zaniolo for Roma.

THEY LEFT THE NATIONAL TEAM CAMP

After the meeting, it was decided that Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Zaniolo, who were being investigated, would leave the field.

Regarding the decision, the federation made the following statement:

‘This afternoon, the Turin Prosecutor’s Office has notified the investigation proceedings to Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Zaniolo, currently meeting with the national team at the Federal Technical Center of Coverciano. “Regardless of the nature of the actions, the federation decided to allow them to return to their home clubs, also to protect them.”
