Olivier Giroud saved Milan in the match in which goalkeeper Maignan received a red card
Olivier Giroud put on the goalkeeping gloves and made a great save after goalkeeper Mike Maignan was sent off, allowing Milan to beat Genoa 1-0 in Serie A.
Christian Pulisic thought he had put the finishing touch to the night after a boring game with his shot three minutes from the end of regulation time. The former Chelsea player went ahead 1-0 by sending the ball into the net after controlling a cross from the American Yunus Musah.
However, the match became chaotic again when Milan goalkeeper Maignan received a red card for a foul on former Trabzonspor player Caleb Ekuban during injury time.

USED GIROUD GLOVES
Giroud then took his place in goal, while Milan coach Stefano Pioli used all the substitutions.
Albert Gudmundsson’s free kick from the edge of the penalty area hit the crossbar and Giroud made a magnificent save for George Puscas just before the final whistle.
Making a move to block French striker Puscas, Giroud dove headlong toward the bouncing ball and grabbed the loose ball.
THE GENOA GOALKEEPER ALSO RECEIVED A RED CARD
Genoa goalkeeper Josep Martínez was also sent off from the match after receiving a second yellow card for a foul on Musah during stoppage time.
“WE FIGHT LIKE LIONS”
Giroud had this to say about the position he saw in his goal:
“I have never experienced anything like this in my career and I am very proud of the whole team. We fought like lions. Last position? Finally I made a great save. It was almost a goal. Calabria ruined my arm, but it’s okay… I will frame this shirt!”
Milan took a two-point lead in the race at the top after rival Inter Milan took the lead with two early goals and drew 2-2 at home with Bologna on Saturday.
