Neymar’s reaction to the Iran stadium: “This is not possible”
Neymar was left stunned after watching footage showing an unfinished pitch being finished by hand ahead of Al-Hilal’s Asian Champions League clash in Iran.
The Brazilian player became the star of the Saudi Pro League after completing a £78 million move to the Middle East from French side PSG in the summer. His stay in Saudi Arabia has so far been interrupted by injury, but he has made consecutive league appearances for the Al-Hilal team, which also includes Kalidou Koulibaly, Ruben Neves and Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Al-Hilal will host the Iranian team Nassaji Mazandaran in the second match of the group stage of the Asian Champions League. However, the Brazilian player was not impressed by the pitch before the match.
Images on social media show Azadi Stadium workers making last-minute adjustments as they try to fill empty spaces on the field.
People dressed in casual clothing are seen picking up squares of grass and placing them on what appears to be a concrete bed.
Neymar was amazed to see these scenes and shared a post on his X account saying “This is not possible” along with grimacing and laughing emojis.
The grass lying on the ground looks very thin against the cement, while a man nearby tries to level the ground so he can patch more.

Al-Hilal is the most successful team in the AFC Champions League, having won the cup four times. Neymar is yet to score in the Saudi Pro League and is said to have a strained relationship with Al-Hilal coach Jorge Jesus.
