Djokovic and Medvedev will meet in the US Open men’s final
One of the most exciting finals of 2023 will take place at the US Open, the last Grand Slam tennis tournament of the season. After the semi-final matches played on matchday 12 of the tournament, 2021 champion Daniil Medvedev and Novak Djokovic, who is aiming for the 24th Grand Slam title of his career, will meet in the final.
The Russian Medvedev got his ticket to the final by defeating the 2022 champion, Carlos Alcaraz, 3-1 after a fight that lasted 3 hours and 19 minutes. While Medvedev will avenge his 2021 championship at the tournament, he will compete for the title at the US Open for the second time in a row.
In the other semifinal, Djokovic defeated Ben Shelton 3-0, who reached the semifinals for the first time in the tournament. With this victory, Djokovic advanced to the 36th final of his Grand Slam career.
The Serbian tennis player will be in the US Open final for the tenth time. Djokovic won the tournament in 2011, 2015, 2018, 2019 and 2021.
