TESK: Unfair competition increases inflation
Bendevi Palandöken, President of the Confederation of Turkish Traders and Craftsmen (TESK), stated that the important element in the fight against inflation, which is highlighted in the Medium Term Program (PMP) covering the period 2024-2026, is prevent unfair competition. .
Palandöken recalled that one of the most important pillars of the program in question is to prevent the prices of basic food products from increasing above inflation, and pointed out that the ‘Retail Trade Law’ should be updated with the opening of the Grand National Assembly Turkish in order for the program to be successful.
‘ONLY VISITED PLACES CAN BE INSPECTED’
Palandöken said: “This happens over time for basic foods and for essential consumer products, with different prices in one chain and different prices in the other.” Palandöken said: “When prices rise, the number of people who can compete in the market decreases. Only visited points will be inspected during inspections coordinated by ministries. Such an audit is not possible for those who have tens of thousands “To achieve this, legal regulations must be issued and the ‘Retail Trade Law’ must be updated as soon as possible,” he stated.
Palandöken noted that prices will automatically decrease as a competitive environment develops and continued as follows:
