Saying goodbye to Manchester City, going to Arabia

Aymeric Laporte announces his departure from Manchester City: signs with Al Nassr

Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte announced his departure from the Club in a video he shared on social media.

Laporte reportedly agreed to join Al-Nassr after five and a half years in England. The Spanish player will be the latest high-profile player to sign for one of the Saudi Pro League clubs, alongside former City teammate Riyad Mahrez, who moved to Al-Ahli last month.

“Dear City fans, today I want to share a story with you,” Laporte said, posting a video on Twitter showing highlights from his time at Manchester City.

Midfielder Laporte added the following in his social media post:

“This is our story now. Thank you and see you very soon. It took five and a half unforgettable years. So many memories that I will keep close to my heart forever.”

LAST MATCH AT THE CLUB

Laporte will leave the Etihad after making 180 appearances for City and playing his last game for the club on the bench against Burnley on the opening day of the Premier League.

Laporte, who was among the subsidiaries in the defeat against Arsenal in the Community Shield and in the victory against Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup, was not included in the squad for the match in the victory against Newcastle last weekend .

The arrival of Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig pushed Laporte further down the City table.

THE TRANSFERS OF SAUDI TEAMS DO NOT END…

A strong transfer move by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund has resulted in all of the PIF-owned Saudi Pro League teams signing several of the world’s best players this summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson have made the transition from the Premier League to the Middle East league in the last 12 months.

He will do the same now after winning five Premier League titles and 13 trophies, including last season’s Champions League, during his time at Laporte City.
