For 30-year-old Kane, this is the first shift in his professional career. Since 2011, he has made 435 appearances for the Spurs and scored 280 goals, making him the club’s all-time leading scorer. The 84-time international has been the top scorer in the Premier League three times.
The transfer is reportedly worth €100m plus bonus payments of up to €20m, making it the first transfer of this size in the Bundesliga.
Kane’s move to Munich had been in the air for weeks. Negotiations dragged on because the two clubs could not agree for a long time. Kane still had a contract in London until the summer of 2024. The Spurs, especially club owner Joe Lewis, wanted to prevent the top scorer from leaving the club for free the following year.
With Bayern, Kane wants to achieve what he has always been denied at Tottenham: win a title (except for the completely minor International Champions Cups and the Audi Cup).
