Leo Messi’s first game in America is on the agenda with ticket prices
The biggest transfer movement in the American Soccer League (MLS) was the transfer of Leo Messi from PSG, free of charge, by Inter Miami, led by David Beckham. While this transfer was perhaps one of the biggest signings in American football history, the ‘Messi frenzy’ immediately broke out. The Argentine superstar’s debut in the American league also became a major media event.
Messi’s debut for the American club will be in the first round of the League Cup on Friday night against Mexico’s Cruz Azul, and ticket prices are out of reach for most American fans. Some fans paid $110,000 on the black market to witness this unique match.
A mid-tier ticket costs $487, while a survey by CNN Business on ticketing site Vivid Seats revealed that some fans spent twice the average annual salary to attend this game.
The British newspaper The Sun has compared what is available with these outstanding ticket prices.
With the same money you can buy a ticket for the nine-month world tour, a house between Middlesbrough and Sunderland, or an apartment with stunning views of Morecambe Bay.
Other luxury shopping options that are worth the price of the ticket include a high-value Rolex watch, a BMW M4 Convertible or a one-year private security subscription.
