Liverpool completes transfer of Dominik Szoboszlai for 60 million pounds
Liverpool are about to sign Dominik Szoboszlai from Red Bull Leipzig for £60m. Szoboszlai came to Merseyside for a checkup.
The midfielder was granted travel permission after Liverpool activated the release clause. Szoboszlai flew to Liverpool on a private plane on Saturday morning and passed some of the initial tests before signing his contract.
The 22-year-old Szoboszlai was long watched by Newcastle United but Newcastle’s budget was tight as they signed Sandro Tonali from AC Milan for £52m.
The Hungarian international footballer helped Leipzig win the German Cup. He scored one goal in the match, which ended in a 2-0 win against Frankfurt. He scored 10 goals and recorded eight assists in 46 games last season.
LAVIA IN THE MIDDLE FIELD
Liverpool’s interest in Southampton defensive midfielder Romeo Lavia continues.

Romeo Lavia.
Personal circumstances will not be a problem, as Szoboszlai is a player capable of playing both in midfield and on the wing. Szoboszlai is expected to sign a five-year deal with the Premier League giants. This deal will keep him at Anfield until at least 2028.
SZOBOSZLAI’S SALARY INCREASE
It always seemed likely that Szoboszlai would play in England’s top division, despite interest from clubs across Europe. The star player earns around £80,000 a week at Leipzig, but he could get a substantial boost after joining Liverpool.
Liverpool have good relations with Leipzig. They previously signed Naby Keita and Ibrahima Konate from this club. On Friday, Fabio Carvalho was loaned for one season.
SZOBOSZLAI’S CAREER
Beginning his professional career at Liefering, Szoboszlai signed for Red Bull Salzburg in 2018 and joined Leipzig in 2021. While at Salzburg, he was a four-time Austrian champion and won the Austrian Cup three times. He has won the DFB-Pokal twice since he joined Leipzig.
This will be the second big arrival at Liverpool this summer after Szoboszlai signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton.
