Maccabi Tel Aviv appoints Robbie Keane as coach
Former Irish soccer player Robbie Keane has been appointed as the manager of Maccabi Tel Aviv, one of the teams in the Israeli Premier League.
The name that Maccabi Tel Aviv will bear has been announced, which has parted ways with Spanish coach Aitor Karanka.
According to the club statement, Keane, 42, signed a 2-year contract.
Keane, who has worked as an assistant coach for the Irish national team, as well as India’s Athletic Calcutta, England’s Middlesbrough and Leeds United, will have his first coaching experience at Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Keane, who played for major European clubs such as Inter, Liverpool, Tottenham and Celtic in his active career, which ended in 2018, holds the titles of top scorer (68) and player with the most caps (146) for the Irish National Team. (AA)
