Going into further preliminary round games against Italy and France, Switzerland secured a budgeted three points against the weakest opposition on paper. Basel’s Dan Ndoye (36 minutes) and YB’s Castriot Ymeri (55 minutes) scored two Swiss goals after the Norwegians took the lead after a good quarter of an hour.
The more efficient team prevails
First of all, the Swiss were more efficient than the Norwegians. They made a lot more out of the few moments they had. The action ahead of the 1-1 score, with Fabian Rieder, Imeri and a very active Ndoye, was one of the first dangerous in the Swiss game. And between the two goals, it was Norway that was more convincing in terms of play and missed some good chances.
Big blow against Italy
On Sunday, Switzerland will continue the duel with Italy, and on Wednesday – with a preliminary round against France. The top two teams in the group advance to the quarterfinals.
