Nusret Gökçe responded to criticism of the World Cup final: I will not take another step
Celebrity chef Nusret has opened up about the events he experienced at last year’s World Cup final, which made him the target of global criticism. After the finals in France and Argentina, Nusret suddenly entered the field and ran after the Argentine players who had won the cup.
While Lionel Messi was winning the only major trophy missing from his glittering career, he was clearly upset by the celebrity chef’s attempt to communicate with him. In another scene, the chef put another player’s medal in his mouth and kept trying to take a picture with the trophy while the Argentine team celebrated.
NUSRET GOKCE: NEVER AGAIN!
Known as ‘Salt Bae’, Nusret Gökçe, 39, tried to explain what he thought on the subject and said he would not step on the pitch again at a World Cup.
Explaining to The Times why he was at the match, Nusret said: “I love Argentina; I lived there. I went to support them. Many people from the team came to my restaurant. I didn’t feel like a stranger. It is a special flavor. I can’t do anything about why I’m there, but I’ll never, ever step foot in the World Cup arena again.” He said.
Stating that he did not enter the field for publicity purposes, Nusret said: “Two billion people were watching the World Cup… How many people are talking about me? Five billion. Everyone. I did not enter the arena for publicity purposes; I felt like that. So I was a bit surprised. There were at least 1,000 other people in the field, but when they show the video they say it’s just me.” he used his statements.
“I DID NOT KEEP ANYTHING!”
On the controversial footage, “I never wanted to overshadow anything. I don’t like attention. I didn’t hit anyone, I didn’t steal anything.” Nusret said, hitting the cup with an attached silver ring, creating a loud sound. Argentine soccer player Di Maria looked to the side of him with a completely puzzled expression.
FIFA rules state that only the names of the winning team can touch the trophy. In this case, it was questioned why someone from the Z list was so close to the trophy.
FIFA said it was investigating how Nusret entered the pitch, but did not share any findings publicly. FIFA President Gianni Infantino was previously spotted out and about in Salt Bae’s restaurants.
