Croatia, first finalist of the UEFA Nations League

In the 2023 UEFA Nations League, whose normal period ended in a 2-2 draw, Croatia defeated the Netherlands 4-2 on extra-time goals and advanced to the final.

In the first semi-final of the tournament, the Netherlands and Croatia met at the Feyenoord ‘De Kuip’ stadium in Rotterdam. The Netherlands closed out the first half of the match, led by Romanian referee Istvan Kovacs, leading 1-0 with Donyell Malen shaking the net in the 34th minute.

Taking control again in this part of the game, Croatia defeated their opponent 4-2 with goals from Bruno Petkovic in the 98th minute and Luka Modric from the penalty spot in the 116th minute and made their mark in the final.
