Max Verstappen wins the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen won the Spanish Grand Prix in the eighth stage of the season in the Formula 1 World Championship.
The 8th race of the season was organized over 66 laps on the 4.6 km Barcelona-Catalonia track.
The Dutch rider, who started from the front row, maintained his position throughout the fight, reaching the 5th stage of this season and his 39th stage victory in total, with a time of 1:27:57.940.
Lewis Hamilton, the experienced British driver for the Mercedes team, who started the fight from 4th place, finished second, 24.090 seconds behind Verstappen.
The biggest surprise in the race was Hamilton’s teammate and compatriot George Russell. Showing a successful performance, Russell started the fight from the 12th row and finished in third place, 32.389 seconds behind the leader with the correct pit stop and tire strategies. Verstappen’s teammate, Mexico’s Sergio Perez, who put in a similar performance, started fourth in the race, starting from the 11th row.
The ninth race of the season, the Canadian Grand Prix, will take place on June 18.
