At the end of the season, Olaf Zager would have left anyway, now they broke up with three games left. The early departure was recorded on Saturday when Rapperswil lost 4-0 at home, which also faced relegation.
The Rorschach-Goldach team dominated the game, especially in the first half, but despite having a lot of possession, they were unable to create clear enough chances for a goal. Rapperswil, on the other hand, was frustrated and benefited from defensive errors.
After the defeat from the neighbors in the table, Rorschach-Goldach is now acutely facing relegation from the 2nd Interregional League. In the end: with Adliswil, Amriswil and Dardania the last three games against teams in the second half of the table.
Rorschach-Goldach still plays against Amriswil, Adliswil and CF Dardania.
“The board of FC RG 17 reacted this Sunday and immediately ended their partnership with coach Olaf Sager. The team was oriented on Sunday afternoon, ”the club writes on its website.
Cold start for a rookie: Mark Bloomer was supposed to lead the team during the break of the season and with enough time to prepare – now it starts this week and is under a lot of pressure.
I would like a different starting position: new coach Mark Bloomer.
This move is only possible because FC Abtwil-Engelburg and Blumer ended their partnership at the end of April, when it became known that Blumer would head Rorschach-Goldach in the summer. The Regionalliga 2 club was his first stop as a coach.
With coach Olaf Sager, Rorschach-Goldach has been able to celebrate huge successes over the past four years, achieving promotion to the 2nd Inter-Regionalliga and qualifying twice for the main round of the Swiss Cup. Thanks to good luck, the club gave the region unforgettable games with Basel and St. Gallen.
However, after a heavy 0:15 loss to St. Gallen, coach Sager’s tactical focus was also criticized. And also in the current season there were internal and external doubts about certain decisions on the composition and personnel issues.
Especially when things are not going well in sports terms, such discussions are not unexpected.
Whether the new player will turn everything upside down will be seen on Saturday against CF Dardania. Expectations are clear: “The club hopes that with this change of coach it will be able to give the team another important boost so that they can stay in the league despite a difficult starting position.”
Due to the loss to Rapperswil, Rorschach-Goldach are in last place in terms of points lost. But: The troops have the experience, the necessary cohesion and can still do it on their own.
