Infantino’s support for Vinicius

The president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, said that the white-and-violet team, which was exposed to racist insults in the Valencia-Real Madrid match on matchday 35 of the Spanish First Division (LaLiga), supported Brazilian footballer Vinicius.

In the FIFA statement, Infantino said: “We are in solidarity with Vinicius. There is no place for racism in football or in society. FIFA supports all players facing this situation.

Recalling the rule that must be applied in all leagues against racist attacks, Infantino said:

“We recommend that the three-stage process in FIFA organizations be applied to all football matches. In the first stage, the match is stopped and an announcement is made. Subsequently, the players leave the field and if the verbal attack continues, it is announced that the match will be suspended for a while. If the attack continues after the match has started, the game is stopped and the opposing team loses. Frankly, it’s easier said than done, but we must do it and support it through education.”

THE GAME HAS STOPPED

Real Madrid’s Brazilian footballer Vinicius stopped play in the 71st minute of the match alleging that a fan from the host Valencia’s stands racially insulted him and pointed a finger at that person.

The match, which was stopped for about 10 minutes due to the police entering the stands to look for the fan in question, started again and Vinicius, 90+7. He was shown a red card for elbowing Duro from Valencia in the first minute.

Vinicius, in his post-match post on his social media accounts, said: “This is not the first time this has happened to me. Racism is considered normal in LaLiga. I am very sorry that the league Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Cristiano once played and Messi is now in the hands of racists”, he had commented. (BRITISH AUTOMOBILE CLUB)
