On Tuesday, the team from Abtestadt will face direct rivals Lausanne-Sport, and on Saturday they will take on table-leading and league-appointed Yverdon-Sport. So, the rule: no losses! Because if Wil beat Vo on Tuesday, they will overtake Crees in the league table and get a promotion. If defeated, Barrageplatz will even be in danger if Stade Lausanne wins the game against Vaduz.

Despite the pressure, the Wheelers are optimistic about the decisive days, as media spokesman David Hughie stressed in an interview with FM1Today: “The team is ready.” However, there is a slight tension. “For many of our players, the upcoming days are probably the most important of their careers, so of course there is a certain amount of nervousness,” Hugi explains. This is healthy anxiety. In addition, the club feels the support of the entire region and is therefore ready to get the necessary points in Vaud.

Hughie clearly sees Wyler as an outsider. “We have part of the Lausanne-Sport budget and therefore other options,” says Hugi, adding bluntly: “However, at the moment we are only one point apart in the table.” Therefore, Vil will also compete with a wide chest, even if they lost two of the previous three games against Vo.

Compared to the competition, Wil has probably the toughest program left with Lausanne and Yverdon. In princely countries, this does not hurt the stomach. “We’ve seen in the last 34 games that anyone can beat anyone,” Hugi says optimistically. This season, FCW has been losing ostensibly easy games, such as celebrating a victory over Krösus Lausanne-Sport. Hugi also emphasizes that he doesn’t think any of the promotion hopefuls will have easy games.

The champagne is not cold yet, the beer is already

In Vila, no one wants to know anything about chilled Ascent champagne. Wheelers first want to wait for the game with Lausanne. “If we win the game, we look forward to Saturday’s final against the hopefully breathtaking backdrop of our home arena,” says Hugi. But you could celebrate anytime, says Hugi: “We always had a few cases of cold beer in the office.”

Whatever the next few days, one thing is clear: Wil are more than happy with their season. After all, the Huil people were the only ones who didn’t see promotion as a goal. “Many foreign media even considered us as candidates for the number 1 flight,” Hugi says. The fact that the club is still playing for promotion is a success. And this is not only thanks to the team, but also to everything that surrounds it. This season laid the foundations for a successful future for the club in terms of the stadium, for example, covering the opposite stand, as well as in the field of sponsors.
