Igor Tudor leaves Marseille
The coach of the French First Football League (Ligue 1) team, Olympique de Marseille, Igor Tudor, announced that he will step down at the end of the season.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, where they will visit Ajaccio on Saturday June 3, in the final week of Ligue 1, Tudor announced that he will leave the team after his contract expires.
Stating that he had a great year at the Marseille Olympics, Tudor said: “It was a good experience for me. I am happy and proud to have left the club in a better condition than when I took office. I think I gave my hundred percent here. We’ve been through a lot this year. I think that a year in Marseille is worth 2 or 3 years in another club. At least that’s how I feel. I made the decision to leave for purely personal reasons. “I didn’t have a contract with a club,” he said.
PABLO LONGORIA: YOU HAVE TO RESPECT
Speaking at the press conference, club president Pablo Longoria said: “We must respectfully accept Tudor’s decision to resign after June 30. On behalf of all the managers, I would like to thank him for the great job he has done here.”
The 45-year-old Croatian coach, who also managed Kardemir Karabükspor and Galatasaray for a while, took charge of Olympic Marseille this season after spells at Udinese, Hajduk Split and Hellas Verona.
Olympic Marseille, which racked up 73 points in Ligue 1, where matches will be played last week, had third place secured. (AA)
