Brigitte Henriques resigns

Brigitte Henriques, president of the French Olympic Committee (CNOSF), announced her resignation.

In the CNOSF statement, it was reported that after the general assembly meeting held today, Henriques, the organization’s first female president, presented her letter of resignation to the leadership and it was accepted.

Following the resignation 14 months before the start of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, Secretary General Astrid Guyart will serve as interim president. The vote to determine the new president will take place within three months.

Brigitte Henriques, who played professional soccer in the past, requested the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to launch an internal investigation against Didier Seminet, who was CNOSF Secretary General for many years. Following the spread of allegations that Henriques, 52, had been subjected to “psychological torture” by Seminet, Seminet was removed as general secretary with the decision taken as a result of a secret vote at the board meeting held by CNOSF in September. last year. Henriques also returned to the presidency in December after a two-month hiatus due to “sickness.” Seminet, for its part, denied the accusations against it and filed a defamation lawsuit against Henriques.
