Aston Martin reaches agreement with Honda
The Japanese manufacturer Honda returns to the Formula 1 World Championship as an engine supplier for the Aston Martin team from the 2026 season.
According to the statement on the Aston Martin team website, the cooperation will take place with Honda from 2026, when the new power unit rules will come into force.
Maintaining the architecture of existing turbocharged V6 engines, the 2026 power units will feature increased electric power and 100 percent sustainable fuels.
Honda-powered cars, which first appeared in F1 in 1964, won a total of 89 races and 90 pole positions.
Honda won 17 race titles, 16 with Red Bull and one with AlphaTauri, in 2015-2021, when it rejoined F1, which it left at the end of 2008 due to the economic crisis.
Red Bull continues to use Honda engines under the name “Red Bull Powertrains” from 2022, in accordance with the agreement it has made with the Japanese manufacturer. (AA)
