Ancelotti: You can’t play football like that!

Carlo Ancelotti’s reaction to racist chants against Vinicius Jr: That’s not how football is played

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has said that there is a racism problem in Spanish football.

In the second half of the Valencia-Real Madrid match played on matchday 35 of the Spanish Football First League, the events that occurred after a fan in the stands addressed Real Madrid footballer Vinicius Junior, went to the diary.

In the post-match press conference, Real Madrid’s Italian coach Ancelotti said: “I don’t want to talk about football. I am very angry. What happened here today is shameful. The whole stat was yelling at Vinicius that he was a monkey. The Spanish league has a problem and it is not Vinicius. He is just a victim. Football cannot be played this way. He would have said the same things if we had won the match. What happened is very serious.” he used his statements.

“THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO STOP THE MATCH”

Expressing that Vinicius Junior was insulted throughout the match and that he was very sad, Ancelotti said: “This is a league with great teams. But we must eliminate this problem. We are in 2023. The only solution is to stop the game. There is a protocol on racism in football, but the solution is to stop the match and go home”, he said.

“TOTALLY DIFFICULT TO TALK ABOUT SUCH A THING”

Explaining that he spoke to Vinicius Junior after the incident, the 63-year-old said: “I asked him if he wanted to continue playing. I told him that he was not to blame and that he should not go. But it is very difficult for a technician to talk about such a thing. I would like to evaluate my player based on his performance, think about tactics, just think about it when he is taking or serving the game. It is very bad to think that I have to remove a footballer for racism,” he made the statement.

“IT WAS A STADIUM, NOT A CRAZY FOOTBALL FACTOR”

Assessing Vinicius Junior’s direct red card for elbowing his rival in the final minutes of the match, Ancelotti said: “Vinicius is upset because all he wants is to play football. He was trying to get rid of his opponent in that position. He wasn’t angry, he was sad. In my opinion, the party should stop at a case of racism. It wasn’t the footballer who got angry, it was the stadium. It’s the first time I’ve seen a stadium that makes racist insults.” He used his statements.

In the 71st minute of the game, in which Valencia were defeating Real Madrid 1–0, Brazilian Real Madrid footballer Vinicius Junior stopped the game claiming that a fan from the Valencia stands racially insulted him.

The referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea, the coaches of both teams and the players got involved after this attempt by Vinicius Júnior, who went to the stands and pointed at a fan.

While the police went to the stands and emptied the sector with the fan in question, the game resumed after being stopped for about 10 minutes.

While the game was stopped, an announcement was made in the stadium against racism in football.
