Formula 1 race canceled due to flooding in Italy

The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, scheduled for this weekend in the Formula 1 World Championship, has been canceled due to flooding in Italy.

F1 said in a statement that a meeting between local authorities and organizers was held due to flooding, which killed at least eight people and evacuated 5,000 people from the Emilia Romagna region.

With the decision made at the meeting, the cancellation of the 6th stage of the season in the championship, which was scheduled to take place at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari International Circuit from May 19 to 21, was announced.

Commenting on the issue, Formula 1 President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Stefano Domenicali said: “The ongoing flood disaster in the Imola and Emilia Romagna regions is a great tragedy. The safety of spectators, team crews and drivers is our top priority.” he used his statements.

At the end of 5 stages in the championship, Max Verstappen from the Netherlands, one of the Red Bull drivers, is in the top two places with 119 points and Sergio Pérez from Mexico with 105 points. (AA)
