Real Madrid and Manchester City are unbeaten in the Champions League
Real Madrid and Manchester City met in Spain in the first game of the Champions League Semifinal. The game played at the Santiano Bernabeu ended 1-1 with a goal scored in both periods.
VINICIUS JR. THE OPEN CURTAIN
Despite Manchester City’s superior play in the first half, defending champions Real Madrid took the 1-0 lead through a brilliant goal from Vinicius Junior. The Manchester City defence, unable to prevent Camavinga’s run with the ball from midfield, also saw Vinicius Junior’s hard right-footed shot from outside the box. Although Ederson stretched, he couldn’t catch the ball: 1-0.
EXCELLENT GOAL BY DE BRUYNE
After Real Madrid’s goal, the players and both coaches objected to the referee throughout the match.
In the game with 22 fouls and 4 yellow cards, Manchester City found the goal they were looking for at minute 67. Ilkay Gundogan passed the ball, which he controlled over the penalty area line, to Kevin de Bruyne. The Belgian star, who took a smooth shot with his right foot from behind the arc, caught his compatriot Courtois: 1-1.
In the remaining minutes, both teams searched for the goal that would give them the lead for the second leg, but they couldn’t.
Manchester City and Real Madrid will meet in England on Wednesday May 17 for the Champions League final in Istanbul.
