What records can Erling Haaland break at the end of the season?
Norwegian giant Erling Haaland’s impressive performance in the Premier League reached a new level on Wednesday when he broke Alan Shearer’s 28-year-old record with his 35th goal.
To say that Haaland had the ability to rewrite the history books would be an understatement. In his explosive debut season in England, he broke two more records before breaking his last record. Erling Haaland, 22, devastated the hapless goalkeeper by scoring five goals in an hour against RB Leipzig goalkeeper Janis Blaswich in their Champions League round of 16 match. The match was played at the Etihad in March and Manchester City’s chances of three trophies began to rise when the Austrian side were knocked out.
Haaland became the third person from Europe’s most prestigious organization to reach this number. Only Lionel Messi and Luiz Adriano managed to reach this number. That night, Wednesday, Erling Haaland broke the 94-year-old record set by Tommy Johnson as the club’s top scorer in a single season with his 39th goal.
However, they have eight games left for now before this season ends. And if they reach the Champions League final, that figure will increase to nine games. The Daily Mail discussed other records Haaland may yet break in the 2022-23 season…

Most Champions League goals in a season (17)
With City focused on a historic trilogy, also highlighted is a record that Haaland could trade for the Premier League’s top scorer. Currently, the competition’s current season goal record is based on 17 goals scored by Cristiano Ronaldo in the 2013–14 season. Ronaldo scored a penalty goal in the final against Atlético Madrid, helping his team win the game 4-1 after extra time.
For now, Haaland has 12 goals in the tournament and has a chance to equal or break Ronaldo’s record. However, the Norwegian player’s hopes are to score goals against his rival in the semifinals. If the Premier League side manages to advance, Haaland will need to go on the air five times in just three games.

Most hat-tricks in a Premier League season (5)
The Norwegian has already scored four hat-tricks in the Premier League after signing for £51m with Etihad this summer. He has scored three goals against Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Manchester United and Wolves this season, close to the single-season record.
This is a record set by English soccer player Alan Shearer in the 1995-96 season, with five hat-tricks to go. Tottenham’s Harry Kane came closest to Shearer’s record. He scored four hat-tricks with his outstanding performance in the 2016-17 season. But this year comes before Haaland’s impressive performance.

The Manchester City star could equal Shearer’s record with another hat-trick in his next game against Southampton, Leeds and Everton. He may even get over it.
Most goals scored in the biggest league season by an English club (63)
So can he?
The record for most goals scored in all competitions in the best season by an English club is held by Dixie Dean, who left his mark on football history by reaching a magnificent tally in the 1927-28 season.
To match the incredible record, Haaland would have had to have scored 12 goals in eight or nine games for City. It was a record that seemed almost impossible to break in March, but now? You never know.
