A first for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Next stop in Formula 1 Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan will host the fourth race of the season in the Formula 1 World Championship.

The race, which will take place on the 6-kilometre-long Baku City Track in the capital Baku, will take place over 51 laps. After tomorrow’s qualifying and the sprint races on Saturday April 29, the race will start on Sunday April 30 at 2:00 p.m.

Red Bull’s Dutch driver Max Verstappen had won the first race of the season in Bahrain and the third stage in Australia. In the return of the season, at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the Mexican Sergio Pérez of the Red Bull team came out first.

NEW FORMAT WILL BE DONE FOR THE FIRST TIME

Formula 1 will be held for the first time in a new format, where a second qualifying session known as a “sprint shootout” will be added to the sprint calendar in 2023. The sprint shootout will determine the sprint race standings.

The new format will be used at six races this season, the first of which is this weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

At the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Saturday April 29, the sprint shootout race will start at 11:30 and the sprint race will start at 16:30. (AA)
