Severe punishment to the referee

Severe punishment to the referee

Referee Fernando Hernández, who kneed Leon player Lucas Romero on matchday 13 of the First Mexican Soccer League Clausura (Liga MX Clausura), was suspended for 12 games.

In the Club América-León match, where the coaches of both teams were fired and 6 players received yellow cards, a strange event occurred on the green courts. This time it was the referee, not the fans, nor the players nor one of the technical committees of the teams, who acted violently.

According to the statement from the Mexican Football Federation, the disciplinary committee decided to suspend referee Fernando Hernández for 12 games.

Club América coach Fernando Ortiz, León coach Nicolás Larcamon and León midfielder Romero were penalized 2 matches each. (AA)
