Kings are boosted by the power play of defeating the islanders

Drew Doughty and Alex Iafallo scored on the power play in a four-goal breakaway in the second half, and the Kings defeated the New York Islanders 5–2 on Tuesday night.

Blake Lizotte, Trevor Moore and Quinton Byfield also scored for Los Angeles. Joonas Korpisalo made 26 saves as the Kings improved to 6-0-1 in their last seven games.

Pierre Engvall and Jean-Gabriel Pageau each had a goal, but the Islanders have lost their last two games after winning three in a row as part of a five game point streak. Ilya Sorokin allowed four goals in 36 shots.

The Kings took control of special teams after the Islanders lost their cool early in the second round when Matt Martin was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct following his involvement in a scrum. After another kneel to Zach Parise, Doughty buried a one-timer set up by Anze Kopitar on a 5-on-3 power play for a 2-1 lead.

Iafallo made it 3-1 a minute later by tapping in the rebound after Viktor Arvidsson hit the post with his 10th goal of the season.

Los Angeles was enough to continue its home ice dominance, averaging 10-3-1 since early 2023. In their last eight games at the Crypto.com Arena, the Kings’ only blemish was a penalty shootout loss to Nashville on Saturday.
