Federal Attorney’s Office Drops Infantino Flight Cases on Private Jet

The emergency federal prosecutors in the FIFA case closed the criminal proceedings against FIFA President Gianni Infantino, which were separated from the main proceedings. It was about a private jet flight from Suriname to Geneva.

In this regard, Infantino was accused of fraudulent business conduct and possible fraud in the international football association FIFA. The receipt of evidence removed that suspicion, the Federal Attorney’s Office (BA) said on Thursday.

The testimonies of witnesses tip the scales. In addition, Infantino “conclusively” argued that the private jet trip was in accordance with FIFA’s spending rules for high-ranking officials. The scheduled flight on the same day was canceled for technical reasons. Infantino had an important meeting in Geneva.

The flight took place on April 11, 2017. Infantino has previously visited member associations in the Caribbean. Criminal proceedings on the fact of unrecorded meetings with the federal prosecutor’s office continue.
