Jake Gyllenhaal filmed the ‘Road House’ remake in front of a live audience at a real UFC event

Ultimate Fighting Championship fans got a sneak peek at Jake Gyllenhaal’s next movie – which doubled as a teaser for an upcoming 1989 remake of Road House – at Saturday’s UFC 285 event.

In between actual fights at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena, a ripped, shirtless Gyllenhaal entered the ring to film scenes in front of a live audience for Amazon Prime Video Feature film about a former UFC fighter. The event also featured former UFC fighter Jay Hieron and two-time champion Conor McGregor – who will also be performing at the new “Road House.”

While filming a weigh-in scene, Gyllenhaal flexed his muscles in front of the audience and engaged in a scripted, physical exchange with Hieron, who plays his rival in the action movie. Recordings of the event shows Gyllenhaal staring down and punching Hieron as part of the intense sequence.

“I can’t even believe I trained for this for six weeks to fight this piece,” Gyllenhaal says during the staged weigh-in. “Now just give me the leash. Come on mom, let’s go!”

Gyllenhaal and Hieron too faced in the ringThey pretended to dodge each other and hit as the director called hints and the audience went berserk. Another clip of the event shows a camera crew following Gyllenhaal as he enters the arena in UFC warm-up gear.

Gyllenhaal is no stranger to the ring (albeit of the square, not Octagon) variety, having played a boxer in the 2015 Antoine Fuqua-directed drama Southpaw.

The upcoming Road House movie directed by Doug Liman is based on the 1980s cult classic of the same name and stars Patrick Swayze as a bouncer with a violent past. Daniela Melchior and Billy Magnussen are also part of the cast of the “Road House” revival.
