Hoping for a crowd and a chance for a replacement

“We all know we played badly,” says Peter Seidler, recalling the game between St. Gallen and Zurich when Espen lost 0-1 despite being outnumbered.

This game is over within the team. Seidler: “After that game, we only filmed one video session, we couldn’t watch it for that long.” The coach prefers to focus his attention on the upcoming game with Servette.

With fans behind you

A game in which the fans of FC St. Gallen must support the players. Because Seidler also talks about the FCZ game on this occasion: “When we came to this athletics stadium, there were only FC Zurich fans there and they created a great atmosphere.” By this point, the FCSG fans were stuck on an extra train and missed almost the entire first half.

“Of course, this was definitely not the reason for the defeat. But we need support. We also talked about it in the locker room. The team works better in interaction with the audience,” Zeidler said. He emphasizes once again: “I’m not just saying this, I feel it right!”

By Friday, around 14,000 tickets had been sold, so Kybunpark will be crowded again. At least with regard to this factor, you don’t have to worry too much about St. Gallen.

Several injured and questionable players

Things look a little less rosy for players in good shape. Randy Schneider (knee sprain), Fabian Schubert and Musa Nuhu are still injured. Although Julian von Moos is already taking part in several training sessions, he is not yet ready for the task – “he trains with the handbrake on, it’s not time to release the handbrake yet,” says Zeidler. They do not want to take risks with him, “the return is inevitable, but not today and not tomorrow.”

Lukas Gertler and Isaac Schmidt are also in question, and several players have fallen ill this week.

Jordi Quintilla, who is serving a suspension, is definitely not there. It is not yet clear who will replace him. Peter Seidler: “There are three or four options, we tried something in training.”

Chance for other players

Zeidler also wants to see the many absences as an opportunity for other players. “We have a lot of good players, now some of them can come on missions that otherwise might not play as often.”

It could also mean newcomers to the storm: Willem Goebbels and Leon Dajaka. “We know they won’t be at their best for a few weeks. Now you’ve been training again for a whole week. Of course, this is Servette’s problem,” Seidler says.
